Prototype

So when i first herd about Prototype i was pretty excited. I went out and got the PC version the day it came out. The first thing i noticed about the game is how similar to Ultimate Spider Man it was. I spent a LONG time playing USM (8 hours a day, 5 days a week). I can’t tell you why but I thought it was a pretty fun game.

In Prototype like USM you have the ability to run all over the city. There is nearly no place you can not get to by either jumping or climbing up walls. The thing that Prototype lacks is a lovable main character.

In Prototype the main character Alex Mercer is infected with a virus which allows him to change his body into various weapons, armors, and gives him supper human powers. Sounds pretty cool so far? Mercer is entirely upset by this and wants revenge on the people who did this to him. Understandable. Mercer dose not care who gets in his way or who he has to kill. Hmmm… In fact there is no penalty for killing ANYONE. Mercer shows no remorse which makes it really hard to actually care about him. That aside I continue to play the game.

In the beginning it’s just allot of fun. After a while it becomes frustratingly repetitive. The only challenge in the game is the massive number of baddies that they throw at you. No thinking your way around things. It’s just Kill Kill Kill! The game is broken up a bit by USM like challenges but having only a very limited few types of challenges even those get old pretty quick. It’s not the worst game I’ve ever played. But it is the most frustrated by a game that I have been in a long time.

Prototype I rate a 3 of 5. (Good waste of time)
